Kidney Diet

Kidney Diet Dietitian in Chennai

A kidney diet is one of the most individual diets there is. How much protein, salt, potassium, phosphorus and fluid is right for you depends on your reports, your stage of kidney disease and your treatment.

At our Perumbakkam clinic or online, we turn your nephrologist's advice and your reports into a practical meal plan using familiar South Indian foods.

Who This Is For

  • People with chronic kidney disease (CKD) at any stage
  • People on dialysis
  • People with diabetes or high blood pressure that affects the kidneys
  • People with a history of kidney stones, alongside their doctor's advice
  • Family members who cook for someone with kidney disease

Common Concerns We Help With

  • Understanding which vegetables, fruits and dals are suitable
  • How much protein to eat
  • Controlling salt, potassium and phosphorus
  • Fluid limits and thirst
  • Low appetite and weight loss
  • Managing kidney disease together with diabetes

What Your Consultation Includes

  • A detailed review of your reports (such as creatinine, eGFR, electrolytes) and your nephrologist's advice
  • A meal plan that fits your stage and treatment, built around familiar foods
  • Practical cooking methods to manage potassium and salt
  • Guidance for days around dialysis, if applicable
  • Follow-ups as your reports change
  • Personalized exercise and yoga guidance as part of your diet chart - planned from your assessment, health condition and your doctor's advice, at no extra cost

Kidney Diet: FAQs

Is there one kidney diet for everyone?

No. It depends on your stage, reports, dialysis and other conditions, which is why your plan is built from your own reports.

Which reports do I need?

Recent kidney function tests (creatinine, urea, eGFR), electrolytes such as potassium, and anything your nephrologist has asked for.

Will the diet change my treatment?

No. Treatment decisions stay with your nephrologist. We plan your food around them.

Can I still eat rice and dal?

Most people can, in amounts that suit their reports. Your plan will show how much and how to prepare them.

Do I have to pay separately for exercise or yoga?

No. Exercise and yoga guidance is part of your diet chart, not a separate service. It is planned from your assessment - your health condition, fitness, age and your doctor's advice - and comes at no extra cost.
