The Diet Desk ("we", "us") is run by Dt. Vaisnavi Gunasekaran, Clinical Nutritionist & Dietitian, and offers nutrition consultations at our clinic in Perumbakkam, Chennai and online. This policy explains what personal data we collect through thedietdesk.in, why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.
1. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and look after your health goals:
- When you book a consultation: your name, gender, age, weight, height, mobile number, email (optional), address, occupation, purpose of consultation, preferred date and time, any medical reports you choose to upload, and the status and reference number of your payment.
- When you send an enquiry: your name, phone/WhatsApp number, consultation type, main goal, preferred date and time, and your message.
- When you subscribe to our newsletter: your email address.
Details such as your weight, health condition and reports are sensitive, and we handle them with extra care. Online payments are handled by our payment partner, Cashfree Payments. We never see or store your card number, UPI PIN or bank login details.
2. How we use your information
- To understand your needs and prepare your personalised diet plan.
- To reply to your enquiry, confirm your consultation slot and verify your payment.
- To contact you by phone, WhatsApp or email about your consultation and follow-ups.
- To send newsletters if you subscribed (you can unsubscribe anytime).
We do not use your information for any other purpose without asking you first.
3. Your consent
We process your details based on the consent you give on our booking and enquiry forms. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us. This will not affect anything we did before you withdrew it, but we may no longer be able to continue your consultation.
4. Who can see your information
Your details are seen only by our dietitian and anyone directly assisting with your care. We use a few trusted service providers to run this website:
- our website hosting provider, which stores the website, your booking and enquiries;
- our email provider, which delivers your booking or enquiry details to our inbox;
- Cashfree Payments, our payment gateway, which processes your consultation fee and package payments and receives your name, mobile number, email (if given) and the amount to pay (Cashfree's own privacy policy applies to the payment);
- Telegram, which delivers a short alert to our dietitian's phone when you book or pay (only your booking ID, first name, purpose of consultation or package, preferred slot and payment status - never your contact details or reports);
- WhatsApp, when you choose to chat with us there (WhatsApp's own privacy policy applies);
- Google Analytics, which tells us how visitors use the website (see section 10).
We never sell, rent or trade your personal data, and we don't use it for advertising. We will only disclose it to others if the law requires us to.
5. Success stories
We publish a client's messages or results only with that client's permission, and we hide names, phone numbers and photos. If your story appears on our website and you would like it removed, contact us and we will take it down.
6. How we protect your information
Your information travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Uploaded reports are stored privately on our server and are never publicly accessible. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your data and will inform you and the authorities as required by law if a breach affects you.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your information while you are our client and for as long as needed afterwards for follow-ups and for records we are required to keep by law (such as payment records). After that, we delete it. You can ask us to delete your data earlier.
8. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a summary of the personal data we hold about you;
- correct or update your information;
- delete your information;
- withdraw your consent;
- address a complaint (grievance) about how we handle your data.
You may also nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf. Contact us using the details below and we will respond as soon as possible, and within 30 days at the latest. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can approach the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Children
If a consultation is for someone under 18 (for example, infant or child nutrition), the booking must be made by a parent or legal guardian, who gives consent on the child's behalf.
10. Cookies, analytics and third-party services
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website (for example, which pages are visited and whether booking or WhatsApp buttons are clicked). It uses cookies and receives your device's IP address. We never send your name, phone number or health details to Google Analytics. We do not use advertising cookies.
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts and, on the contact page, a Google Maps view; Google receives your device's IP address to deliver them. Links to WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook take you to services with their own privacy policies.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed.
